Caregiving affects employees mental and physical health, productivity, absenteeism, financial situation, and desire to remain in the workforce. At this free event, you will learn about how employers can better support their caregiver employees and why it matters.

Cathy McLeer is the AARP Minnesota State Director, leading the NorthStar State’s work as a wise friend and fierce defender of the 50+ and on behalf of Minnesota’s 630,000 AARP members, through advocacy, community engagement, and volunteer engagement. Cathy has been with AARP since 2005, serving first as the Associate State Director for Communications in the South Dakota State Office, then as a Senior Advisor providing strategic support for nine states. Cathy has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Minnesota and came to AARP after more than a decade in broadcast news in both the Sioux Falls, SD, and Minneapolis, MN markets.

An innovator at heart, Dr. Orstad serves as a clinical consultant for Marsh McLennan. She holds a DNP and Certificate in Healthcare Design from the University of Minnesota and has been in practice for over 30 years. Dr. Orstad’s clinical background includes pediatrics, perinatal care, community health, chronic illness, and geriatrics. Dr. Orstad also served as an executive in case management / population health, IT product design, and as the Director of Care Integration for a 400-bed suburban hospital. Dr. Orstad also speaks regionally and nationally on topics such as employee wellbeing, social determinants of health, mental health, and serves as a volunteer leader within American Nurses Association.
Dr. Heidi Orstad is a clinical nurse consultant with Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA)’s Planning and Analytics for Total Health (PATH) team. Working in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and National Director of Clinical Management, she develops and executes on strategies to help employers control health care costs, improve health outcomes, and promote employee engagement through analytic-based state of the art innovations and reporting. Dr. Orstad also serves as the lead clinical market resource for client engagements and assists in managing clinical relationships with payors, providers, and employers.

Jessica Miller is the Interim Director of Workforce Strategy with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. She focuses her work on addressing barriers to employment, connecting stakeholders with workforce development resources, and developing career pathways and sector partnerships for South Central and Southwest Minnesota. She has twenty years of experience in Human Resources and Learning and Development in both the public and private sectors and union and non-union environments.

Pam Lonne serves as a Case Aide with the Children and Family Unit within Carlton County Health and Human Services. Pam has been providing care for four years for her father, who is living with Alzheimer's disease. Work flexibility and other support from her employer have been critical in her dual role as an employee and her father's caregiver.

Bill Tiedemann, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, is a highly accomplished and passionate transformational leader interested in impacting the complex social issues that prevent many of us from living our best lives. Throughout his career, Bill has held senior-level positions within local and state government and in non-profit organizations focusing on HIV, Aging, and Disability Services. He is known as a social entrepreneur, innovator, disrupter of the status quo, collaborator, convenor, and student of organizational development and leadership. Bill is passionate about identifying the solutions needed to make the necessary and sometimes difficult changes within organizations and communities to deepen impact and improve people's lives.
Bill resides in Mendota Heights with his life partner Mike and Bella-Grace, a black lab border collie who only listens when we shake treat bags or the sound of the refrigerator opening. Bill and Mike are also proud parents of two adult children, Matt (24), who lives outside of Chicago with his fiancé Kate, and Megan (21), a Sophomore at Kenyon College in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
